Debrecen with its almost 210 thousand inhabitants is the second largest city in Hungary. It is located 220 kilometres away from Budapest, and has a rich history dating back more than 600 years. It is not only the cultural and scientific centre of the region, but also a marvellous place where various festivals and cultural events are arranged annually. Moreover, Debrecen is the city of a flourishing bath culture and a distinctive health centre as well. Debrecen is also one of the regional centres of higher education with more than 27 000 students in 14 different faculties. Besides the internationally renowned research centres and the programmes of the medical and the scientific faculties, the other faculties also ensure a distinctively high level of training.
